It is important to know that it is illegal to feed the wild horses in Nevada. Because of a cooperative agreement with the Nevada Department of Agriculture, one of the most important things Wild Horse Connection does is diversionary feeding. We have NDA approved diversionary feeding sites used to divert horses from roadways and neighborhoods. So, you can rest assured that the horses are being cared for. Horses follow patterns. If you feed illegally in your yard, then the horses learn to come there for food. This is dangerous for you and for the horses. Our goal as WHC is to feed in the hills in approved areas to teach the horses to stay up where they belong and not come in to your yard or on to your streets. If you work with us, follow the laws, and leave the management of the horses to WHC, then we can keep the horses where they belong.
Keeping the Wild Horses of the Virginia Range Free, Educating the Community about living with our Mustangs and Rescuing those that had to be removed from the range. By working with Nevada Department of Agriculture, City, County, Law Enforcement, Developers and Land Owners. Install fencing, gates, cattle guards, provide water resources in the higher range so the horses stay high up and not down on our community streets. Training our rescued so they can be used for therapy and emotional support. Providing Emergency resources to those in need. Connecting our Community, Protecting the Wild Mustangs and Educating Everyone.
Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit work in this area we formed our organization to provide sensible solutions. We've consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community! Wild Horse Connection is a 501c(3) devoted to our American Heritage Mustangs. We are a group of individuals who have dedicated our lives to be their voice in a time when their freedom and their lives are being threatened. Some of us spend endless hours in all kinds of weather on the range observing, documenting and protecting the wild ones. Other volunteers spend their time managing and caring for those who have been removed from the range and are now living their lives with humans. Still others work to educate the community to help us achieve our goals. We hope you enjoy our page, our stories and most importantly the Wild Horses.
Our amazing team of regular and part-time volunteers are committed to helping the horses and our community. We take our convictions and turn them into action. Think you would be a good fit? See our form below for more information.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
